Here is my newest painting. Lots of texture with this one. I have added some old pages from a vintage book, vintage paper wings and antique porcelain doll arms. I hope that the interpretation of this painting varies greatly with each viewer and evokes something personal to each who views it.
For me, it seems to be a gathering reminiscent of times when old stories were shared and treasured.

Hi Julie! The painting is fabulous - it has a sense of serenity and protectiveness. The angels look so loving and inviting. It gives me the perception of height - as those they are floating from above. I love how you used book text for their dresses. Take care - and happy first day of fall to you! Theresa
ReplyDeleteI love the ideas behind this piece! And the perspective from above is neat. I'm sure you will begin to feel more energy as you get further along. I always did. Best Wishes!

ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteFirst, I hope all is well with your sweet family and new baby on the way and thank you so much for your very kind post. I Wish your mom the best with her portraits. I find it so very hard to do, but with the more impressionist style that I used with Rose, you can almost sculpt a face if you know what I mean. A shadow here, a highlight there. Also I worked from a black and white picture and I think that might make it easier to see the shadows. This is just my own way because I was never trained of course. I hope you love those paints as much as I do. They are so fun, but I must confess, I have been using my folk art paint for those real tiny faces. It is just so hard to get the detail with the thicker paint, but I bet if I watered them down enough I could. I am still on a learning curve with them. I did use them for the face on a painting I am doing of my husband, yes you heard me. He has been asking for years and I find that you do get a more realistic flesh color with them. Thank you again Julie and good luck! I always love to see what you create. This last one was soooo beautiful and unique. Lots of hugs,
Jennifer
Hi Julie,
ReplyDeleteThis is a special piece of work and quite different compared to your other paintings!
It is really original and makes me think of the lovely Renaissance angel paintings in Italy.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece.
It was lovely to see you at my place again. :-)
Hugs,
Jo. xx
