Viva Frida!

Don't we all hope that, someday, when we are gone, our art will still remain and will forever leave a piece of us here on this earth? I do. It' s not that I'm afraid of being forgotten..my faith reminds me how mortal we really are...but, I'm really afraid of not being able to leave a message for my loved ones that are to come. I want my great, great, great grandchildren to have a piece of my passions even though I will never know them.
I want them to never let go of their dreams because anything is possible,
and, to love deeply and with all of their hearts.
To give all of your Loved ones a devoted and unconditional love.
It's always outweighs the risk of being hurt.
Frida is on an 11 X 14 canvas and will be on ebay Sunday night! And, I will be having a give away next week for my 1 year anniversary since I have started this amazing journey into blogland. It has really changed my focus and I want to thank you all for your support! Until then, have a great weekend!

  3. Awww, how sweet. She is so pretty. Yes, it is hard to think of not meeting great, greats someday. I am already looking forward to meet my grand babies. That is really bad. You better keep some of your precious paintings because I know your family will love to pass them down!Jennifer

  5. What a wonderfully reflective post that reminds us all of the importance of life and love. It's a wonderful thing for us, as artists, to know that, while we will someday be gone, our work can remind our family and those who come after us of who we were, what we were all about, what our passions and values were. That, to me, is a definite blessing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and for sharing Frida, who is quite lovely!

  9. I know what you mean about leaving something for your "great greats" to have of you. When my grandmother died she had 6 children, 18 grandchildren and a few greats. She was an oil painter and after her funeral we all went to her home and set out all of her paintings. We started with the oldest choosing a painting and went down the line to the youngest and then did it over again until all the paintings were gone. We each have at least one painting of hers to cherish.

I love your Frida painting. Your colors always look so soft and pleasing to the eye!

  12. Hi Julie,
So lovely to see you again. It has been a while and sorry for the delay in catching up with you...
I am feeling much better now... Thanks for your kind words.:)
I am a great fan of Frida Kahlo, so I love your painting celebrating her... I very much like the soft colours you have used and the turquoise flowers and earrings!
    Just stunning work, Julie.:)
I hope you and your family are well.
    Best wishes.

  14. It's always interesting to think about our legacy and what our future family will remember about us. I know that I love collecting relics from my family's past....will someone do the same for me?

No doubt all your creations will be treasured by the generations to come. It is amazing how art lasts....even after the artist is long gone :)

  15. One of the 'comforts' for me, after my dad and mom passed away, was having the fruits of their creative passions to keep with me. I have almost all of my dads paintings and sketches and writings... and I have my moms' watercolour paintings and many of the things she hand sewed for her home, like cutains and tablecloths. They will all be kept and admired and passed on thru grandchildren, etc. I hope my sons do the same with my artwork someday.
{{{hugs}}} for this beautiful, thoughtful post.
This Frida is so striking and lovely. She looks as if she is thinking of all those who will be touched by her words and life and art. I have another of your Fridas. A print that sweetly watches over my studio. Viva la Vida...
