Miss Polly's First Day.....New Painting

Polly had long waited for this day often daydreaming as a little girl of what this day would actually be like. She had been thinking all summer how she would greet her new little class (she finally inherited all of the elementary school children that attended the Willow Farm School from old Mrs. Dotchet). Mrs. Dotchet is still alive mind you but the good Pastor finally saw it fit to encourage her retirement and the children have since been leaving many a curiosity of wrapped goodies and thank yous at his parsonage door. Now there's only about twenty-five children in all ranging from ages six through twelve but Polly had a plan to make this new school year the best that the old Willow School had ever seen. Her first idea was to bring in some of her lovely feathered friends as she knew the children had been strictly forbid to have a class "pet". Next week would be a field trip into town to the local library (the children had never left the old barn where the Willow Farm School had been located since they had been there).
Oh and then maybe after a lot of pie and cookie sales after church on Sunday even a train ride into the big city for a museum. She certainly planned on giving the children plenty of new culture. She smiled as she continued to think of all of her new adventures with her class and headed out down the long road to the School House.
Miss Polly is 11 X 14 on a gallery wrapped canvas and will be on ebay tonight. ; )

Also, I wanted to share this sweet little dresser I found for our dining room. I needed something to hold our linens and did some moving around of the other furniture but I think this is ultimately where she was meant to be.
And, of course, you'll see in the center a new little half doll with a wire frame skirt and a wire frame parasol behind her. I'm so excited to find one with the parasol still in tact. Isn't she a cutie!?
I know it's been over a week since I last posted...ugh!...but I have been a little sick in the head...literally. I'm starting to feel much better and appreciate all of your kind words as always and wish you all a wonderful week. xxxx
