A Heart of Renewal

I want for paintings like this new one,"A Heart of Renewal" to remain entirely open to the interpretation and experiences of the viewer. That being said I thought I would still share what it means to me and hope that it doesn't affect your own personal interpretation. :)
For me, this painting is about looking at life anew, bringing back hope into the dark corners of one's expectations and softening the edges of a heart that can, at times, harden to life's experiences.
I embroidered the thread that runs from her heart and around the butterfly. Giving the canvas another dimension of texture was really cool and fun to do. I plan to do this again in the future! Prints of this new painting are in my shop.

And, for those of you that know that I have a new man in my life I thought I would share his latest picture.
I still adore my sweet husband and 7 year old (I didn't forget about them I promise) but there is something so magical about having a baby to hold and smell and coo with. I'm just in love with this little angel...he is such an easy baby. :)
I hope you all have an amazing, creative, safe and warm (er!) weekend.

  7. awww, such a sweet little guy. i miss the smell of baby! my sister is pregnant so i'll just have to wait as i find that strangers don't like it when I sniff their babies.

love the stitching on this piece. i was actually thinking of doing the same thing. i just bought an upholstery needle, thinking it would be easier to use on a stretched canvas. i'll let you know how it works!

  14. How could you not love that face. He is sooo cute. I remember with the second one knowing how a new life makes such an impact on the old dynamic and just staring at her and wondering who is this new little human and how will she be. Needless to say she only added love and life to the party and it didn't take long before she became a main player. Ha ha How fun for you getting to know your new little man. LOVE love the painting and what it means to you.
