In the Cove of Sea Dreams & The Dream Guardian

Well hello March 1st! When did you get here already?! Can you believe we are already into the third month of the year?!
I really can't. The baby is growing and I am endlessly wanting to paint these days while he is napping. These are the good moments...no work, at home, just nesting and creating...if only these days could last forever.
I thought I would share a piece I created for The Prim Gathering update for March. If you'd like to visit here is the link... The Primitive Gathering

I used this old, lovely wood case, seashells, vintage jello molds, book pages, wood, acrylics and vintage doll arms. This piece stands almost two feet tall....I really love how she turned out. :)
Little embellishments...
And, below, is a new painting, "The Dream Guardian". More embroidery with thread. The original and prints are available in my shop.
"Her moth is a friend of the night,
It follows the moon,
And guides her into peaceful dreams."
Have a great week!

  1. What an AMAZING piece for the Prim Gathering, and the painting is so beautiful too! I just love the way you have been incorporating embroidery into your pieces too. I have been feeling like getting my embroidery stuff out lately, although I am very much a beginner! I hope you are having a wonderful week :) ~Lauren

  6. I just wanted to say thank you for your lovely comment that you left on my blog recently. During the past 5 weeks I was, just from one moment to the other, without any internet connection! If you can't send or receive any mails, nor visit any Blogs, or simply surf in the internet, you feel yourself really cut-off from the rest of the world!
But since yesterday, thanks God, I'm on-line again!
Love the doll and your new painting is amazing as always!
I have enjoyed visiting your blog today. You have a real eye for art and I have loved every minute of the time spent looking through all your pictures.

    Have a wonderful upcoming weekend!

  9. Just popping in to say hello. I love the painting with the moth and stitching. I would love to make something mixed media with shells. The wood case looks like it had a grandfather clock in it at one time. I hope this finds you, the baby and family well. ~Theresa

  11. Sorry that it's been a long time Julie since I last dropped by, hoping that all is well with you and your family. I am amazed that you find the time to produce such beautiful pieces, when my children were little I didn't seem to have any time to myself, just work and children... Well done for finding a little time for yourself...

    Very important!

A lesson that took me a lot longer to learn... I called it my self presevation time... And boy do we need it.
